The last day of Carnival is the Parade of Bands in the streets of Port of Spain. The meaning of bands in this instance is not a musical band but a group who have banded together to do Mas (as participation in Carnival is called). The bands are small comprised of a handful of people, medium and large comprised of hundreds of members. The bands prepare costumes based on a theme. The bands dance down the street and are accompanied by there own sound truck. The sound trucks are flat bed trailers with a generator and many, many speakers. As the band dances down the street the sound truck moves along with them. There are also support vehicles that travel along with the bands that provide drinks and even a flatbed truck with port-o-lets. There were quite a few large, elaborate costumes but the vast majority of the band members were dressed less elaborately and the shear number of the participants in the many colored outfits was very impressive. We spent six hours watching the parade of bands. The parade would go on many hours after we left. One band with their sound truck
This band had hundreds of members (band named All Inclusive) with different groups within the band wearing a different type and color of costume. The colors were magnificent. The number of people and the length of the street that this band covered required at least five sound trucks so that all the band members would be near a sound truck.
