Island Time

Our retirement on Island Time as liveaboards.

Young Island Cut, St. Vincent

After our guests left, we hung out for a couple of days in Young Island Cut which is just west of the Blue Lagoon.

Young Island Cut between the main land and Young Island which is the long island with the dome shaped island (Fort Duvernett) to the right.

Young Island is home to a very lovely resort and the dome shaped island south of  Young Island is Ft. Duvernett which still have cannon on the top that were used during the wars between the English, French and the Caribs.  The fort was built around 1800 with the fort built 190 feet above the sea to defend the shore.  There were two batteries on the island one facing the sea and one facing the mainland.  One was on top and the other 40 feet below.  They each had 24-pound guns and 8 inch mortar.

On the mainland side of Young Island Cut is restaurant row with many choices of food.  We went to the Xcape for lunch and the next day to Lime Restaurant and Pub (again) for an excellent dinner.  Of course we stopped at the Young Island Resort for sundowners one day.
